Financial Aid - Grants
Grant programs offer financial assistance that does not have to be repaid by the student or the student's family. Federal grant programs and several state grant programs are available to qualifying students.
Federal Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant is a federal program designed to provide assistance to any eligible undergraduate student pursuing postsecondary education. Federal Pell Grants are awarded to students who have not already earned a bachelor's degree. For many students, this grant provides a foundation of financial aid to which other aid may be added. The value of the award currently varies from $400 to $4000 depending on the student's financial need and the cost of attendance. Grant amounts may vary from year to year depending upon federal funding.Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) program is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need. Because it is a grant program, an FSEOG doesn't have to be paid back. There's no guarantee every eligible student will receive an FSEOG; students at each school may be awarded an FSEOG based on eligibility and the availability of funds at that school. An FSEOG can give you up to $4,000 a year, depending on when you apply, your level of need, and the funding level of the school you're attending.
Cal Grant
Students who have been California residents for at least one year may be eligible for a grant from the State of California, known as a Cal Grant. Eligibility is based upon financial need and grade point average. The Cal Grant program is only offered at the California campuses. The application deadline for the Cal Grant program is usually March 1 of each year. Contact the financial aid office at the campus you will be attending for additional information.Grants for Colorado Residents
